Respiratory Disorders

What are the functions of the lungs?
The lungs take in oxygen, which cells need to live and carry out their normal functions. The lungs also get rid of carbon dioxide, a waste product of the body’s cells.

Common Symptoms
Most respiratory disorders are caused by some part of either the lungs or the bronchus failing to operate properly.

This can cause an increased breathing rate due to lack of oxygen.
It can even cause skin colour changes around the mouth and fingers.
Another common symptom is Wheezing or Grunting.
In some cases the chest can be seen to Retract (sink in) to get more oxygen

The human body some times triggers automatic nose flaring to encourage oxygen flow.
